Prosciutto cups with pears and goat cheese are the perfect easy party appetizer! This one bite appetizer is so perfect because it combines salty, savory and sweet flavors into one delicious little bite.
Every party needs an delicious one bite appetizer that the host can easily make in advance but also stands the test of the hours long it sits during a party. Prosciutto cups with pear and goat cheese are perfect for parties because much of the prep can be done 1-2 days ahead.
While they can survive a few hours on the party table, you won’t need to worry about that because they will totally disappear once people try them.
The cups for this easy party appetizer are made from slices of prosciutto that are placed into a mini muffin pan and then baked.
What is prosciutto?
Prosciutto is an Italian dry-cured ham that is usually thinly sliced. Many places serve it uncooked but it can be cooked until crisp for recipes like this one.
I usually make the little prosciutto cups the day before my party. Then, let them cool completely and cover them in an airtight container and they will be perfect the next day.
This appetizer recipe works great for holiday parties because pears are in season and so easy to find at the store.
You can dice the pears in advance too. Just toss them with a little lemon juice before you store them in the refrigerator so they don’t turn brown.
I usually top the prosciutto cups with a bit of goat cheese and fresh herbs. But, if you wanted to save a step, buy and herbed goat cheese and just use that. Alouette would be perfect for this recipe.
I usually make two full 24 cup mini muffin pans of these and they are always gone by the end of our party. The sweetness of the pears and the salty prosciutto work so perfectly together. Plus, no utensils are required which is always a party appetizer win!
